Monthly Project Report Amena Mobile Clinic for October 2025 – Kunar IDP Camp
This report presents the October 2025 activities and achievements of the Amena Health Clinic in Khas Kunar IDP Camp, operated by the Afghanistan Green Crescent Organization (AGCO). It provides an overview of the clinic’s healthcare services, patient statistics, and key public health interventions implemented during the month, including a special campaign against mosquito-borne and skin diseases conducted in collaboration with AIMA and Direct Relief.
Narrative
The Amena Health Clinic, operated by the Afghanistan Green Crescent Organization (AGCO), continues to play a vital role in delivering essential and emergency healthcare services to communities affected by the August–September 2025 earthquakes in Kunar Province. Following the catastrophic earthquakes that claimed more than 2,200 lives and injured over 3,600 individuals, thousands of families were displaced and left without access to basic medical care.
Building on the achievements of September 2025, the health interventions during October 2025 were carried out exclusively through the fixed Amena Clinic located in Khas Kunar IDP Camp, which was established to provide continuous healthcare services to earthquake- affected and displaced families in the area.
During the reporting month, the clinic registered and treated 3,025 patients, including 2,282 adults and 683 children, of whom 1,132 were male and 1,833 were female. The most frequently reported conditions included respiratory infections (cough, cold, and pneumonia), acute watery and bloody diarrhea, skin infections, musculoskeletal disorders, peptic and hypertensive conditions, and mental health disorders.
In addition, the clinic provided 292 antenatal, postnatal, and family planning consultations, focusing on maternal and child health, reproductive health education, and preventive care. These services remain a cornerstone of AGCO’s commitment to improving the well-being of women and children among displaced populations. As part of preventive health measures, AGCO, in collaboration with the Afghanistan Islamic Medical Association (AIMA) and medicine support from Direct Relief, conducted a campaign against mosquito-borne and skin diseases in the Law IDP Camp. The campaign included the distribution of insect repellent dispensers and spray bottles to 260 families (3,570 individuals) through a door-to-door approach, along with awareness sessions on mosquito control and hygiene practices. This initiative directly responded to requests from both camp residents and local authorities, aiming to prevent disease outbreaks during seasonal climate changes.
AGCO field management conducted two visits to the Kunar Amena Clinic during the month—on 1–2 October and again on 29–30 October 2025. The visits aimed to monitor clinic operations, review medical records, and ensure quality service delivery. Additionally, staff salaries and essential medicines were delivered during these visits to sustain uninterrupted healthcare provision and boost staff motivation. During this mission we had a visit from Jalala Clinic in Ghazibad district.
Overall, the Amena Health Clinic remains a cornerstone of AGCO’s humanitarian and health response in Kunar Province, serving as a critical lifeline for displaced families. Through continuous service delivery, targeted health campaigns, and regular field monitoring, AGCO reaffirms its commitment to protecting lives, restoring dignity, and promoting resilience among Afghanistan’s most vulnerable population/
